How to create a quiet space in the office

Almost all offices today are designed in a way that allows for open plan living. This allows for communal seating and meetings, and it gives people the chance to have open options rather than private offices, and that can be the best thing for some businesses to achieve. The problem? Open plan offices never know privacy and there are some meetings that need more than an open plan space. 

Whether you are looking to help the workers to have a quiet space without distractions, or you want to have a private space for the management team, you need to look at hiring a demountable partitioning contractor so that you can get the space that you need for that all-important quiet time. Quiet offices are a must for some and there are some conversations that should only ever happen behind closed doors. 

  1. Ask your staff what they need the most. You want to ensure that the people working for you are happy in where they are working. Happy employees are productive, motivated and willing to work harder and better for you. If you can ensure that their work environment matches their needs, you are going to support them in a way that no one else could!
  2. Provide enclosed rooms. Those partitioning contractors we mentioned earlier? Well, they can create rooms in your office and ensure that you can have rooms that are separate for some quiet working. You can use glass frosted doors so that you can create privacy and maintain an element of visibility at the same time. This is so important if you want to give your staff space to breathe!
  3. Utilize your furniture. You can shape your furniture and your desks to ensure that you are blocking out the office to create spaces that count for everyone. Diverse spaces will support workers and give them individual workstations. Placing these settings can make people feel that they are in a private office even when they’re not.
  4. Add some walls. If you don't want to put permanent partitions up, you can use a ‘half wall’ where you can define space and establish privacy with freestanding screens. These can be moved as you need to move them and folded away when they're not being used.
  5. Encourage communication. When you tell your workers to communicate about their needs, they will tell you when they need privacy and when they don't. You need to let people know that they can come and talk to you. You can also encourage wearing headphones and focus work tables to allow people quiet time they need when they’re working. This will help them to feel like you care about how they work best.
A private office isn't always possible, but a quiet space in a communal office is. You can make it possible and now you have the means to do so you should go for it.
